The Role

A permanent full-time position is now available for a Case Worker, providing case work support to people accessing Vinnies homelessness and housing services.

This role reports to the Case Management Team Leader, your responsibilities include:

  • conducting initial intakes and assessments
  • developing case plans with the active participation of the clients, ensuring that ongoing support and monitoring are provided in order to achieve case plan goals
  • referring clients to appropriate external services such as those that provide life skill and educational programs
  • undertaking home visits, advocating on behalf of the clients where required, and supervising client activities
  • maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records and case notes..

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum TAFE Certificate IV or currently undertaking tertiary study, in welfare or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience providing support to marginalised and vulnerable people support to homeless persons.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues relating to homelessness including but not limited to family breakdown, mental illness, drug, alcohol and gambling addictions.
  • Awareness and understanding of the Work Health and Safety legislation and a commitment to promoting safe work practices.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations.
  • A valid NSW drivers' licence.
  • St Vincent de Paul (NSW) has a COVID- 19 vaccination policy that has identified this role as requiring a full COVID-19 vaccination. Medical exemptions with the NSW government contraindication form will be considered, subject to a satisfactory risk assessment
  • Previous experience and knowledge of working with families will be highly regarded.
