The St Vincent de Paul Society is a leading provider of community support services and has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage in NSW for more than 130 years. Our people reach out to the most vulnerable in our community through our Conferences, Special Works and Vinnies shops. The Society's mission is to shape a more just and compassionate society by offering a 'hand up' approach to people in need respecting their dignity, sharing our hope and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.

The Role

The role of cleaner will:

  • Contribute to a safe working environment for members, staff and volunteers by implementing the Society's workplace health and safety practices.
  • Operate hand held power equipment such as vacuum cleaners.
  • Spot clean carpets and soft furnishings.
  • Rubbish collection.
  • Telephone cleaning and germ proofing.
  • Work in a 'risk management' framework to ensure work, health and safety standards are met and maintained in the workplace

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to prioritise work and have good attention to detail.
  • Proven good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and work effectively with people of all backgrounds and work well within a team environment.
  • Understanding of current Work, Health and Safety legislation, and a commitment to safe working practices.
  • Flexibility and reliability.
