Your New Role

Employee Relations Specialist has been newly created to provide guidance, support, and make recommendations to resolve employee relations issues and build the capacity of Senior People and Culture Partners to support a positive workforce engagement. You will report to the Manager, Employment Relations and support them to establish and implement an employee relations strategy for the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your experience and understanding of employment law and policy and, get involved in varied projects, complex investigations and negotiating agreements. You will bring a high level of energy, a pragmatic approach and be keen to expand your knowledge in the field.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing advice in the implementation of enterprise agreements and other industrial instruments and policies.
  • Supporting the review of the Society's industrial instruments.
  • Supporting the effective resolution of employment relations issues for staff, volunteers and members.
  • Providing expert and confidential advice in relation to disciplinary and grievance processes of varying complexities, ensuring the timely and effective resolution of grievances.
  • Conducting complex workplace investigations.
  • Providing expert and confidential advice in relation to disciplinary processes.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s in Industrial Relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice in workplace legislation and policy
  • Demonstrated experience in providing industrial relations advice and the ability to adapt communication delivery to various audiences.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven project management skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability and expertise in project leadership to oversee effective implementation of initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with a proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Desirable: experience working in a membership-based organisation to support and empower members and volunteers
