Your new role:

As a Support Worker, you will assist in the daily running of Fred's Place and provide a variety of support to clients at the site. This is a dynamic and highly rewarding role working as part of a small dedicated team, making a real difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness.

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment for clients who live at, or are accessing the service
  • Assisting in the entry and assessment of new clients
  • Supervise a variety of client activities such as groups and programmes
  • Providing case work support as directed and in cooperation with Case Workers
  • Liaise with appropriate service staff to ensure client needs are attended to in an effective and efficient manner and providing accurate, up-to-date information and practical support to clients on a range of issues.
  • Maintain client records and case notes, both electronic and hand written, in a professional manner as per service policy.

This role will report to the Team Leader, Fred's Place.

To be successful, you will need:

  • Appropriate Certificate or equivalent experience or currently undertaking tertiary study, in a related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills..
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to use sound judgement and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Ability to maintain an ethical, yet non-judgmental, attitude towards residents and staff, and commitment to this..
  • It is a condition of employment that you comply with the Society's Pandemic Policy - COVID-19 and Public Health Orders in order to work in or enter Society facilities. In accordance with our policy, you will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status or a valid medical exemption as part of the resourcing process.
