Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is a community controlled Primary Health Care organisation.

Sunrise Health Service has a unique approach to the delivery of health to all people in the remote communities east of Katherine, NT. Sunrise has a philosophy of community participation and strong focus on multi-disciplinary care coordination. This is done through the organisation's health clinics and health education, mixing together traditional Indigenous culture and the best of mainstream medicine.

About the Opportunity

Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation currently has exciting opportunities for a Registered Aboriginal Health Practitioners, to join their dedicated teams, working in remote communities east of Katherine, NT. The roles are being offered on a permanent, full-time basis.

In these roles, you will be assisting the Remote Health Centre Manager to implement plans and directions as outlined in the Business Plan, as well as working in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the high possible standard of culturally appropriate acute, accident and emergency and other health care within the communities.

There are a number of male specific programs that are delivered in the area, and as such male applicants are encouraged to apply.

Some of your key responsibilities and performance indicators will include:

  • Provision of high quality Primary Health Care in accordance with CARPA protocols;
  • Treating acute illness and chronic medical conditions, and managing computerised recalls and patient follow-up care;
  • Ensuring that programmed outstation visits are completed each quarter, and health checks/screenings are completed twice a year;
  • Participating in the planning and implementation of coordinated care through involvement in activity planning and multidisciplinary care planning activities;
  • Assessment and referral of social welfare issues;
  • Providing input into clinical activity reports for Community Health Committee meetings;
  • Providing direction, guidance, training and support for Aboriginal Health Workers in their everyday work; and
  • Day to day administration of clinical activities.

To be successful, you must have the following:

  • you must be registered (or eligible for registration) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Relevant experience combined with a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice), a Certificate III or IV in Aboriginal Health Work (Clinical) or an equivalent or higher qualification.
  • Ability to provide leadership and to assist in the management of the human, financial and physical resources of a community health centre, including visitor accommodation.
  • Broad primary health care experience and advanced clinical skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of Primary Health Care principles and their application in a remote Aboriginal community setting.
  • current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence
  • National Police Check a
  • Working with Children Check prior to commencing.

About the Benefits

Your dedication will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration circa $55,334 - $67,730, plus superannuation. Other benefits include:

  • 6 weeks leave per year;
