Sunrise Health Service has been operating since 2003 and is the second largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in the Northern Territory.

Based in Katherine (only 3 hours drive from Darwin), Sunrise Health Service services 9 remote communities to the east of Katherine. We serve a population base, predominantly Aboriginal of approximately 3,800 people - many with chronic illnesses requiring early detection and amelioration. 

It is important that our staff embrace the intent of our organisational plan - the Sunrise Way and work with the Board, communities and management team to deliver family-based services that address not only medical needs but the social determinants of health as well.

About the role

Ensure that the NDIS Program is managed effectively using an approach that demonstrates adherence to the requirements of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission and Sunrise’s core values of mutual respect, openness, engagement, two-way learning, and cultural safety.

Qualifications/Accreditations: 

• Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Public Health or other relevant discipline 
• Current unrestricted manual Drivers Licence 
• Current First Aid Certificate 
• Non adverse National Criminal History Check 
• Current OCHRE clearance 

Experience: 

• Demonstrated expertise in the Disability and Mental Health Sectors 
• Familiarity with the National Disability Insurance Scheme 
• Knowledge of the social determinants of health. 
• A clear understanding of, and a commitment to, the principles of Aboriginal Community control and comprehensive primary health care. 
• Demonstrated management experience leading a multi-disciplinary team. 
• Demonstrated ability to engage and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in non-clinical Disability and/or Mental Health programs. 
• Experience with community development in an Aboriginal setting.
