Analyst / Consultant - Darwin

Social Ventures Australia

Who we are

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a not-for-profit organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, that works with our partners towards an Australia where all people and communities thrive. We influence systems to deliver better social outcomes for people by learning about what works in communities, helping organisations be more effective, sharing our perspectives and advocating for change.

The SVA Consulting team is one of Australia’s leading not-for-profit consulting provider, with expertise across the social sector. Our solutions are tailored to the context and needs of our clients, which include service delivery organisations, government agencies, philanthropic organisations and corporates with a demonstrated commitment to social impact. We work in a broad range of areas, with extensive relationships across First Nations communities and deep sector expertise in Aged Care, Children and Families, Disability, Education, Employment, Family Violence, Financial Well-being, Health, Housing, Mental Health, and Regional Development.

In the Northern Territory, our work has been particularly focused on supporting Aboriginal people to define their vision for transitioning, remote economies and supporting initiatives that will help them to achieve their priorities. You can find more information about our Consulting team and examples of our work on our website.

The position

We are looking for a new team member based in our Darwin office at either the Analyst or Consultant level. Analysts and Consultants work on client projects as part of a broader project team with management and support from more senior team members.

While no two client projects are the same:

  • Analysts are typically responsible for a stream of work, which may require research, data analysis, and development of presentations or reports to communicate the findings of our work.
  • Consultants are typically responsible for leading or contributing to problem-solving, undertaking analysis and supporting project and client management.

For both positions, a typical project lasts between three and six months and you will usually work on at least two projects at a time. We work with a range of people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including Aboriginal people from different language groups across the Northern Territory. We often work with organisations based in very remote locations, so there will be opportunities to travel within the Northern Territory and interstate and often by 4WD or light aircraft.

Who you are

If you are driven by a desire to contribute to improved social and economic outcomes for communities across the Top End, then you should apply!

It will be important to demonstrate that you are self-motivated, that you strive for excellence and will take key tasks through to completion. You will have strong interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment. Recent experience working in a problem-solving role, either in strategy consulting, government, the community sector or in business will be advantageous, preferably with demonstrated experience undertaking research, analysing data, building presentations and writing reports.

The Analyst and Consultant positions provide exposure to challenging and rewarding opportunities, supporting communities to achieve social and economic empowerment. You will build close relationships with inspiring clients, sector leaders, colleagues and stakeholders, which provides a great foundation for professional growth and development.
