Lead Employer Engagement

Social Ventures Australia

Who we are

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a not-for-profit organisation that works with partners to alleviate disadvantage – towards an Australia where all people and communities thrive. We influence systems to deliver better social outcomes for people by learning about what works in communities, helping organisations be more effective, sharing our perspectives and advocating for change.

SVA’s Programs Team enables a community of engaged philanthropists, corporate foundations, and government to support high impact initiatives that improve the lives of people in need in Australia.

SVA has secured philanthropic funding to work with employers to try to increase quality job opportunities for young people in Western Sydney who are at risk of economic exclusion. We will be testing an approach based developed in the US which involves working with a small group of employers to identify and implement practice change.

SVA expects that this initial pilot will provide the basis for ongoing engagement with employers to improve employment outcomes for those who experience disadvantage.

The Position

This new and exciting role will identify and recruit employers to the pilot project and support them to implement changes within their organisations to increase quality job opportunities for young people who are at risk of economic exclusion.

The Lead Employer Engagement is a key contributor to the success of this pilot project and to refining an approach for replication and expansion, leading to a network of employer champions for creation of career paths for young people.

The initial engagement is for one year, in line with the current pilot funding. However, we expect to pursue ongoing funding for future projects, building on this pilot’s success.

Special Requirements

While SVA’s Sydney premises are in the CBD, the role will require frequent travel within Western Sydney (subject to any public health restrictions).
