About the organisation

Swinburne Children’s Centre is a community based, for purpose organisation offering early learning and care and services across the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne for over 20 years.

With 120 employees across our four services and head office in Croydon, we are committed to enabling our children to be the best versions of themselves, helping our families connect, operating as a successful business and keeping our workforce engaged and connected. The organisation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We are seeking suitably qualified associate members and community members for nomination at our upcoming Annual General Meeting.

About the role

Board Directors are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organisation, embedding sound governance practices and ensuring robust financial management procedures are maintained.

To ensure these responsibilities are carried out effectively, Board Directors need to understand and promote the organisation's constitutional objectives and strategic outcomes, attend and participate in Board meetings, understand the organisation’s financial position and be familiar with the organisation’s programs, policies, and operations.

All Directors must strictly adhere to governance policies and procedures especially conflict of interest and confidentiality policies and comply with ACNC requirements as a responsible person.

About you

You are an action orientated professional with relevant business experience that can commit to preparing for and attending regular Board meetings. Expertise in finance, risk, governance or early education is desirable. Understanding of the Not for Profit sector would be beneficial.

People from diverse backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are strongly encouraged to apply. Previous board experience is not required.
