About the Role:

The role of the Local Engagement Officer (Ageing Focus) aims to engage and to build the capacity of Ageing Australians with a Brain Injury, Carers and Industry professionals who work in the Aged Care sector. This role is key for increasing awareness of the issues associated with brain injury among the ageing population through linkages to education, resources and where appropriate, to Synapse services.

The Local Engagement Officer (Ageing Focus) is also responsible for:

  • Responding to incoming My Aged Care referrals relating to brain injury and other neurological conditions like dementia by providing information and advice
  • Organising online and face-to-face peer groups in the region
  • Build relationships and collaborate with Aged Care providers to strengthen resource and service information for those affected.
  • Desktop and/or in-person research for information and community linkages
  • Reporting about monthly community activities & connections, identifying trends in the region, issues or feedback, and local stories

*This role will be a 12 month Fixed Term contract working 5 days a fortnight. This role will be connecting with the Sunshine Coast and Caboolture regions but can be performed remotely in either locations.

In addition:

  • Previous experience relevant to the disability (i.e. NDIS) and/or aged care (i.e. My Aged Care) system
  • Demonstrated experience working with people living with disabilities and carers, particularly affected by a neurocognitive disorder
  • Skills in community development and group facilitation to build and foster meaningful connections.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity in client information systems.
  • The ability to build relationships and collaborate with providers and other relevant stakeholders
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence and Compulsory Third-Party Insurance on private vehicle, as some travel is required for this role.
