About TaskForce

Since 1973, TaskForce has provided specialist support for people in serious need in Victoria. Our core services focus on addressing social issues of addiction, unemployment, mental health and high risk taking behaviours, supporting our clients to transition back into "mainstream" services and supports.

About the position

TaskForce is now seeking a part time AOD Counsellor to join the client centred team, based in Dandenong. The focus of this position is to reduce AOD related harms to forensic and voluntary clients and their families by conducting assessments, facilitating therapeutic groups, coordinating care and recovery treatment plans and providing a range of counselling interventions to assist clients and their family members. The role requires a strong therapeutic focus - with an understanding of the benefits of harm minimisation.

You will be an experienced AOD Clinician who has previously worked with mandated clients. You will have at least 2 years experience in the provision of assessment and counselling services to forensic AOD clients and knowledge of harm minimisation, client-centred care and recovery-focused principles. You will be skilled in case management and the use of evidence based therapeutic techniques. Ideally you will also have experience running therapeutic groups.

You will have a passion for working with people suffering from substance abuse and the ability to build strong rapport with your clients. Ideally you will have qualifications in psychology, counselling, health or welfare, social work or nursing and be equipped with a Certificate IV in AOD (or equivalent AOD competencies).

We are committed to creating an inclusive and transparent workplace culture where our people are our most valued resource. TaskForce employees have access to generous employee benefits including salary packaging, flexible work arrangements (including 48/52 purchased leave), and training and professional development opportunities.

TaskForce values diversity and welcomes applicants who meet the position criteria irrespective of their cultural and linguistic background, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability status, health status or religion. We actively encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. People with disability who apply can ask for reasonable adjustments at any time during the application process. Police checks will be undertaken for the selected candidate prior to any job offer being confirmed.
