Family Violence Senior Worker - VincentCare

TaylorCare has partnered with Vincent Care Victoria in South-East Metro with specialist family violence program, Olive’s Place. Olive’s Place is specialist family violence program that provides support and accommodation to adult and child victim-survivors who have fled their homes due to family violence. The program aims to support and empower victim-survivors to rebuild confidence and self-esteem, establish a life without violence and achieve a maximum level of self-reliance and independence.

VincentCare Victoria is seeking an appropriately qualified person to provide leadership, guidance, mentoring and supervision as a Senior Worker to a dedicated team of case managers and engagement support worker team of 4 to provide intensive refuge support to victim-survivors. The role also directly supports a reduced client caseload.

Key to the success of this role will be using feminist principles to support the team and victim-survivors, fostering a culture of inclusivity and promoting a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach. The role requires an understanding of the MARAM framework and Information Sharing Schemes. Additionally, this position includes phone-based on call responsibilities one week out of six.

About you

You are an appropriately qualified professional with experience in providing comprehensive case management, planning and support to assist clients within a family violence setting.

You have an understanding of partnership initiatives and deliverables and an ability to work with and alongside other programs and organisations. You understand the importance of interacting in ways that respect the equality, diversity, choices, rights, safety and responsibilities of individuals throughout the process whilst also maintaining strong professional boundaries.

You have experience in maintaining constructive, empathetic, supportive and respectful working relationships particularly for an integrated service response.

Your experience and knowledge also extends to:

  • Effectively engaging with people experiencing complex issues
  • An ability to manage critical incidents, identify and act upon immediate risk of danger to self and others in both outreach and service based capacities.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in liaising with other community service organisations for the development of on-going relationships and referral protocols beneficial to client support
  • Knowledge of therapeutic frameworks including client centred approach and strength based models
  • Ability to mentor and provide supervision for team members 
  • Ability to step up into the acting manager role when needed  

Qualifications

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in social work (required).
  • Candidates are required to hold a Bachelor of Social Work or other equivalent qualification; or have a minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience
  • Or a related qualification as per the mandatory minimum qualifications requirement
  • Or hold significant cultural knowledge and experience, lived experience, and/or have faced barriers to educational pathways (note Mandatory Requirements).
  • MARAM Comprehensive Family Violence Specialist Training (desired and preferred)

Experience - Essential

  • Experience (minimum 2 years) in case planning, support and leadership within a family violence or community service setting
  • Understands and can demonstrate partnership initiatives and deliverables and an ability to work with and alongside other programs and organisations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as advanced interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, crisis environment with clients presenting with complex needs and behaviours

Salary Range: SCHCDSI Level 6 $92500 - $96500k dependant on experience, plus super!
