Our Foundations for Young Parents Program supports young parents to build and develop positive relationships with their children and connections to their community.

Your new role:

You will engage and support young parents and their infant in the transition to parenthood through case management, education and advocacy. You will undertake an initial assessment of family strengths and needs to develop individualised case plans that build on the family’s current strengths and increase resilience to enable them to reduce risk and increase safety and wellbeing. This program uses evidence informed, trauma responsive practices to strengthen families and build secure attachments for children. We work in collaboration with other services to provide holistic services that help families achieve their goals.

Terms: Part Time role (30 hours) hub based in Campbelltown, NSW. Travel required across Campbelltown, Camden, Wollondilly and Wingecarribee LGA’s.

What you need to succeed?

  • At least 3 years’ experience working in case management with vulnerable families who have experienced disadvantage, attachment disruption and trauma histories.
  • Must have a solid and demonstrated understanding of all areas of early childhood development including emotional development and be able to identify risks to normative development
  • Sound understanding and experience in supporting families with routines, developmental transitions, nutrition and responsive parenting practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocacy and navigating systems such as Centrelink, housing and medical.
  • Demonstrated experience in increasing protective factors by identifying risks of harm to children and a solid understanding of your responsibilities as a mandatory reporter.
  • Ability to follow organisational policies and practices including accurate and timely data entry and record keeping
  • Ability to work remotely and unsupervised in collaboration with accountability and integrity.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification for example a degree in an area of social welfare/work, education or youth work and current driver’s licence
  • Experience working with young parents is preferable but not essential
