We are Australia’s first charity, providing a range of Disability, Ageing and Child, youth and Family services across New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. We are a not-for-profit and non-religious organisation that has assisted people, families and communities to achieve positive change since 1813.

Our Foundations for Young Parents Program supports young parents to build and develop positive relationships with their children and connections to their community.

In your new role you will

  • Engage and support young parents and their infant in the transition to parenthood through case management, education and advocacy.
  • Undertake an initial assessment of family strengths and needs to develop individualised case plans that build on current strengths.
  • Use evidence informed, trauma responsive practices to strengthen families and build secure attachments for children.
  • Work in collaboration with other services to provide holistic services that help families achieve their goals.

What you need to succeed?

  • At least 3 years’ experience working in case management with vulnerable families and a relevant tertiary qualification in social welfare/work, education or youth work and current driver’s licence
  • Solid and demonstrated understanding of all areas of early childhood development including emotional development and be able to identify risks to normative development
  • Sound understanding and experience in supporting families with routines, developmental transitions, nutrition and responsive parenting practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocacy and navigating systems such as Centrelink, housing and medical.
  • Demonstrated experience in increasing protective factors by identifying risks of harm to children and a solid understanding of your responsibilities as a mandatory reporter.
