Role Purpose

The purpose of the Manager, People & Culture position is to lead the design and implementation of new and re-imagined People and Culture initiatives aimed at building a thriving organisation and supporting transformational change at The Benevolent Society (TBS).

The Manager, People & Culture is primarily responsible for partnering with the business to design, develop and implement strategies that will attract, engage, and develop employees and build upon a high-performance culture within a not for profit, purpose driven organisation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead people and culture initiatives that support the People and Culture strategy that aims to ensure TBS has the capability in its workforce and the system and culture to delivery on its strategic goals.
  • Play a key role in driving workforce attraction and development strategies, in collaboration with tertiary institutions and partner organisations.
  • Assist in the design and development of governance frameworks and leadership development programs that align with the culture of the organisation, its purpose and strategic intent.
  • Support the embedding of flexible working principles and practices
  • Drive initiatives to enhance, measure and monitor the employee and candidate experience. Implement “listening posts” to capture feedback and gain insights that inform strategies and continuous improvement
  • Monitor the People and Organisational development projects
  • Provide support for the implementation and monitoring of the remuneration and benefits framework
  • Play a key role in workforce planning and budgeting
  • Support workforce change, mergers and acquisitions and as organisational restructures requiring significant change management.
  • Support management development and engagement, succession planning framework;
  • Provide input into developing the learning and development strategy.
  • Drive the diversity, inclusion and belonging strategy

What do you need for success?

  • Degree qualification in Human Resources or relevant business studies
  • Significant HR Generalist experience (10 + years) as a Senior Business Partner or HR Manager with experience in the design and implementation of a range of national change and transformation projects and process improvements
  • Strong Project Management experience gained from leading and participating in major national projects.
  • Experience in not for profit, purpose driven organisation in health, care, or social services sectors
  • Demonstrated understanding and passion for diversity and inclusion
  • Experience with salaried and enterprise agreement based nationally distributed workforces (1000+)
  • Experience implementing employee and candidate experience measurement tools and strategies
  • A Project Management or change management qualification or certificate would be highly regarded but not essential
  • Coaching and influencing experience in field of human resources
  • Change Management experience and understanding of change management methodologies
  • Gravitas and subject matter expertise to earn the respect of senior leadership.
  • Business writing skills including policy and procedure development and management reporting
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once
  • An empathetic team player and effective leader and influencer who is able to influence and motivate others.
  • High attention to detail capability
  • Ability to work autonomously
