About the role

You are passionate about practice and seeing staff develop. We are looking for a child and family specialist to join our team. You are someone who understands the current climate for children and families and are committed to ensuring that they receive services of the highest quality. You can contribute cultural and practice wisdom to the design and implementation of practice resources and case consultations that are culturally safe and effectively support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities. You have experience in one or more of the following, Domestic and Family Violence, Child Protection, Family Support, or Out of Home Care. You have supported staff and leaders, by drawing on your cultural knowledge and skills. You are a people person able to influence and motivate others.

Duties

• Support the Practice team and Operations, ensure our work is of high quality, culturally safe and provides effective responses to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
• Lead the implementation of clinical and practice frameworks and models, and evidence-informed approaches.
• Develop, implement and review practice resources to promote consistency and enhance quality practice standards for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Provide complex case consultations to support operations staff deliver culturally appropriate best practice services.
• Coach, mentor and provide support to operations leaders to build their practice leadership.
• Identify whole of organisation patterns and trends and, in collaboration with Practice colleagues, develop action plans to address practice gaps.
• Participate in evaluations, collaboration with internal teams and participate in critical incident investigations as they relate to practice.

Skills and Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications and operational experience in an area relating to The Benevolent Society’s service delivery (Child, Youth and Family).
• Demonstrated skills and practice wisdom in at least one speciality within your profession.
• Demonstrated understanding of (and experience working with) contemporary theoretical and practice frameworks.
• Demonstrated practice excellence, including client engagement skills and clinical reasoning.
• Experience working with individuals and groups to facilitate reflection, learning and best practice.
• Demonstrated ability to translate research and complex ideas into accessible practice resources/workshops.
• Experience evaluating current practice and finding practical solutions to build capability.
• Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staff to build their skills in meeting diverse client needs.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships based on trust and collaboration, across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders.
