The opportunity

We are excited to be currently searching for a talented, people focussed Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager to complement our highly talented people and culture function here at Telethon Kids. The goal of People & Culture is to provide for a high-performing Institute and a valued people experience with a focus on being safe and well, connected by purpose, and by having careers that make a difference.  

Your priority will be to use your excellent communication and people skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop, manage and deliver on health, safety and wellbeing goals. Your success will not only be judged on this but the team you lead in this dynamic and highly visible role. 

About you

Our ideal candidate will have their sights set on elevating our strategic focus, with an innate desire to implement meaningful outcomes to proactively maintain our safe workplaces. 

As an experienced professional who thrives under pressure whilst handling competing priorities with the ability to exercise a flexible approach to changing parameters, you will:

  • Use your customer focused approach and ‘can-do attitude’ to engage and influence key stakeholders to drive a positive health and safety culture.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of an integrated health and safety management system that ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and is aligned with Telethon Kids strategies, initiatives and goals.
  • Have a true enthusiasm for wellness, and appreciation of contemporary practices that can have a positive impact on workplace culture.
  • Ensure a health and safety consultation framework is in place that encourages employee participation and help develop and implement a Wellbeing strategy.

Your cover letter should specifically address your skills and experience in each of the following areas:

  • A pragmatic and commercial approach to Health, Safety and Wellbeing with an ability to balance compliance with the practicalities of smooth and effective operations of the Institute.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and presentation skills combined with outstanding oral, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Significant health and safety experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role and a successful track record of implementing safety systems, processes and behaviours within complex organisations.
  • A sound working knowledge of OSH Management Systems, national legislation, Workers’ Compensation legislation, claims management and ergonomics.
