The Co-operative Life specialises in Psychosocial Support Services and we are dedicated to working with vulnerable people and making sure that they don’t slip through the cracks.

We are growing and currently have a Lead Support Worker vacancy working with and supporting participants to achieve their NDIS plan goals. This is an opportunity to join the Co-operative Life supporting individuals living with Mental Health conditions to lead meaningful lives. You need to have experience with complex personality disorders and challenging behaviours. You should be an empathetic and pragmatic thinker, be able to work both independently and within a team environment.

The role duties:

  • Motivating, mentoring and managing a team of Support Workers
  • Being the daily point of contact for the team and participants
  • Liaise with Participant's and their care team
  • Weekly Rostering and reporting
  • Providing face to face support to participants
  • Adherence to legislation and organisational policies and procedures to ensure appropriate health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace
  • Create and implement person centred capacity building strategies with team and participants

Professional Skills and Experience:

  • Min 2 year of previous psycho-social disability team management experience
  • Valid working rights within Australia
  • Individual Support Plan knowledge required
  • In-depth understanding of NDIS and Aged Care industry requirements – is a must
  • In-depth person-centred support experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams across multiple locations
  • Experience in roster scheduling/rostering staff
  • Experience with leading in a diverse team environment
  • Experience in performance managing staff
  • Empathy and the ability to build strong relationships
  • Experience in mental health, physical and intellectual disabilities and also aged care home support.
  • Demonstrate experience in the documentation: Individual plans, risk management, incidents, daily case notes, staff reviews, performance management plans and reporting.

Interpersonal skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated capacity to collaborate as part of a diverse team and work autonomously.
  • High level of stress resilience and emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and use initiative.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated flexibility in methods of alternative and augmentative communication, particularly being able to use active listening skills.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills. Crisis management experience required

Qualifications:

  • Cert 4 Mental Health (Minimum)
  • Valid Police Clearance/NDIS Screening Clearance, First Aid Certificate and WWC Clearance
  • Valid Driver`s Licence and own vehicle
  • Proof of COVID19 Vaccination Requirements being met (including of the validation of the medical exemptions, if any) under the NSW Public Health Order
