We work with governments, health organisations, research organisations and a network of experts nationwide to analyse policy problems and find the best evidence-based solutions.

About the role

A great opportunity exists for an experienced evaluator to join our Evaluate team for a 12 month maternity leave cover contract. This role will see the successful candidate working with decision makers to conduct evaluations of the client’s policies and programs. The focus is on exploring how innovative ideas can be adapted and applied and would be ideal for someone who is able to apply a high level of academic rigour together with an understanding of policy timeframes and complexities.

Although no two days will be the same, responsibilities will include:

  • The development of evaluation frameworks for government and non-government agencies
  • Managing complex program and policy evaluations
  • Qualitative and/or quantitative data analyses
  • Report writing
  • Supervision and capacity development within the team
  • Completing funding applications
  • Strategic directions for the Evaluate program

Selection Criteria

To be successful, the Evaluation Fellow should demonstrate the following technical and behavioural competencies:

  • A PhD in a related area or equivalent work experience
  • High level skills in one or more of the following methods: quantitative methods; inferential data analysis (including large data sets and/or routinely collected data); mixed methods design; qualitative methods; quasi-experimental design
  • Experience in developing program logics and evaluation frameworks collaboratively with government and/or non-government agencies
  • Experience in conducting evaluations for government and non-government agencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks to tight deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management / collaborative practice
