The Mai-Wel Group has been providing a diverse range of services to people living with a disability in the Hunter Region for over 60 years. What began as a group of local families coming together to provide education and opportunity to their children has today developed into a thriving business supporting more than 1,600 participants across the Lower and Upper Hunter, Maitland and Port Stephens areas.

The role

As a Support Worker with Mai-Wel you will be committed to providing the highest quality of personalised services to each individual participant in order to assist them to achieve their life, social and vocational goals.

Successful candidates will be expected to work across various divisions of The Mai-Wel Group including residential, community access, employment and leisure supports.

Selection Criteria

In order to be successful in this role you will need:

  • An understanding of person-centred approaches and Active Support.
  • Previous experience in Support Work and/or a relevant qualification.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including days, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to provide personal care where required.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Current driver’s license and comprehensively insured vehicle.
  • Behaviour support training will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Successful applicants will be required to comply with Mai-Wel’s Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy.
