LGBTIQ+ Sexual Assault Counsellor

Thorne Harbour Health

ABOUT US

Combining passion, commitment and activism, Thorne Harbour Health aims to improve the health and wellbeing of our LGBTIQ+ communities and of those living with or affected by HIV.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Therapeutic Services and Capacity Building programs at Thorne Harbour Health provide therapeutic counselling and support services to individuals, couples and families, as well as group programs. We develop and deliver training and capacity building to community and other organisations. These specialist services target the LGBTIQ+ community and people living with, or affected by, HIV.

About the Role

This role is your opportunity to join a progressive organisation and a strong team at Victoria’s largest LGBTIQ+ community-controlled
health service. The newly created LGBTIQ+ Sexual Assault Counsellor role has been developed to better respond to the access barriers and experiences of discrimination experienced by LGBTIQ+ victim/survivors of sexual assault.

You will deliver high quality, evidence-based, trauma and violence informed sexual assault/family violence counselling, advocacy and support to clients from the LGBTIQ+ community and those living with HIV.

This position is an exciting opportunity to lead this specialist work and to help design community-led, culturally-safe and tailored sexual assault responses for LGBTIQ+ community members. Sitting in a multidisciplinary team and within an integrated community health setting, this role offers the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of LGBTIQ+ victim/survivors.

With excellent clinical support, professional development opportunities and a highly competitive salary, this will be a richly rewarding role for the right person. We offer generous salary packaging and a commitment to quality improvement.
