The Role

The newly created role of Director of BD and Stakeholder Engagement, reporting to the Chief Decarbonising Officer, will lead a high performance and positive engagement team that creates and maintains relationships with potential and existing clients and stakeholders. This role will be the first point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring that Corporate Carbon’s clients remain satisfied.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Business development – Identify and develop new opportunities to undertake new carbon projects that are eligible under the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) for new and existing clients across all sectors of the economy, leading the team to turn opportunities into commercial reality. Stay abreast of regulatory and technological developments that may impact the business.
  • Sales - Implement strategic business development plans. Lead sales calls and meetings with prospective clients. Support commercial, legal, and contractual negotiations. Promote carbon credits from Corporate Carbon’s portfolio of existing Emissions Reduction Fund projects to new and existing clients
  • Stakeholders’ experience – Assist and enhance Corporate Carbon’s stakeholders’ experience in working with the company through the entire life cycle of projects. Solve client problems and manage financial aspects of contracts. Ensure contracts are carried out according to agreed terms.
  • People leadership – Lead, mentor and develop an engaged, high performing engagement team. Attract and retain talented people to support the expansion of the team.
  • Communication – Prepare and submit proposals, reports, presentations, applications, pitches, and associated materials. Undertake detailed offering design and financial modelling.
  • Relationships – Foster positive relationships with Corporate Carbon’s stakeholder’s as their primary point of contact, including engagement with landholders, NGOs, indigenous groups, corporations, and local, state and federal governments. Build relationships across Corporate Carbon, service providers and contractors for the complete delivery lifecycle.
  • Collaboration – Present accurate and reliable insights to seek inputs from and make recommendations to Corporate Carbon clients, the Advisory Team, and the Project Delivery Team. Ensure that sales proposals align with the scope, quality, and costs of services that the company delivers.
  • Processes – Support and develop processes and systems including procedures and tools.
  • Other ad hoc business support – As required.

About You

This role requires a blended skill set where the successful person will seamlessly pivot between strategy and getting into the operational and commercial details. You will be a natural networker bringing people together to solve problems and be just as comfortable in developing new business as you are in managing existing relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders from traditional landowners to farmers, government agencies and executives.

Required Experience

  • A graduate qualification in business, communications, or sustainability with at least 5 years’ experience in business development, stakeholder engagement and/or communications.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in team leadership.
  • Ability to grasp technical concepts, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Deep understanding of stakeholder engagement and project delivery principles, standards, practices, and frameworks - and demonstrated experience in applying them.
  • Advanced skills and experience using a variety of computer applications (MS Office and QGIS as a minimum)
