The role

Joining the Sydney based team and working closely with the Director, the primary role of the Senior Advisor is to lead and or manage a portfolio of CEI projects across a range of key CEI strategic activities, including evaluation, applying evidence in service development and improvement, evidence synthesis, and advancing implementation science. The Senior Advisor will also contribute to new business development and the strategic development of the CEI team.

The portfolio for this role will have an emphasis on impact evaluation, including a particular focus on hybrid implementation-effectiveness designs and multicomponent research that provides a deep understanding of complex social policy issues with an equity lens.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the design, planning and delivery of projects, primarily high-quality evaluations, the synthesis of evidence and the application of evidence in service development and improvement, informed by and advancing implementation science.
• Designing and delivering research studies and impact evaluation projects using hybrid designs, ensuring the most rigorous methods possible are applied.
• Conducting and/or leading sophisticated quantitative analyses of experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations.
• Contributing to the development and implementation of plans to grow the Centre’s business and strategic competitiveness and ensure continuous improvement.
• Building and managing stakeholder relationships, including with current and new collaborating organisations, clients and other funders, networking to raise CEI’s profile and be an external representative of CEI and its work.

About you

You will have strong expertise in rigorous quantitative evaluation and research methods, with capacity to translate findings into feasible solutions for government, the service sector, and philanthropic decision-makers. You have an emerging portfolio of policy relevant translational research and seeking to join a team with a high level of integrity and professionalism.

You are passionate and committed to using your skills to improve policy and service delivery that affects people’s lives.
Ideally, you will possess:

• Post-graduate research degree in psychology, health, social science, economics or related discipline.
• Ability to contribute to new business development (including preparing competitive tenders and grant applications, networking, participating in strategic events).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design and conduct of research and evaluation, including mixed-methods and hybrid design.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising or mentoring junior staff, students, or colleagues.
• Experience in successful dissemination, including but not limited to, writing and publishing research or evaluation reports for policy, service and academic audiences, delivering presentations and providing consultation to a diverse range of stakeholders, and effectively tailoring messages to the audience.
• Excellent organisational skills and strong project management experience, with a demonstrated capacity to meet deliverables on time, manage complexities and develop and manage senior external stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to collaborate as a member of a global organisation, working on projects and initiatives across CEI’s offices, i.e., working virtually with the UK or Singaporean teams.
