This high-profile and complex not-for-profit in the community sector has a very diverse range of services, stakeholders, and activities, with a central mission to deliver better futures through social and economic independence.

The COO is a key senior leadership role, reporting to the CEO and providing high-level strategic leadership, advice and direction across business development, finance, investment, IT and HR.

The COO role is broad and challenging, in which you will deliver specialist advice to the CEO and board on investment decisions and funding, ensuring exacting standards in governance and compliance, and advising and contributing to sound strategic business decisions. This includes developing strong, cohesive relationships across a range of stakeholders and business units.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Providing the CEO and Board with sound financial advice on all corporate, budgetary (C.$75M), investment and financial matters.
  • Oversight of the Investment Fund (c.$1B) and the in-house Treasury function
  • Strategic, expert advice and analysis for the CEO, ELT and Board regarding financial management and performance, supporting decision making processes.
  • Overseeing the ICT Strategic Plan.
  • Strategic leadership, direction, and oversight of funding programs, and ensuring optimal investment of resources.
  • Leadership, advice and strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, regulators, affiliated organisations, and government.
  • Financial reporting and governance including the ongoing development and implementation of systems and business processes.
  • Broader business wide systems improvements to support service delivery.
  • Contribution to policy and program design, and implementation.
  • Lead the team to develop financial and relationship capabilities, maintain high standards and operate to statutory and budgetary requirements, and to deliver best practice customer service.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven senior leadership experience within a complex service delivery organisation, the not-for-profit sector, or community service delivery.
  • Highly developed financial and resource management skills.
  • Extensive experience in partnership development, including contract management.
  • A track record of implementing continuous improvement strategies and projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, influencing, negotiation and people management skills.
  • An appropriate degree with CA / CPA / MBA well regarded.
