The total salary and benefits package for these 64 hours per fortnight positions may consist up to:

  • Base wage of $41.89 to $43.79 per hour - $67,700 to $72,866 per annum
  • Salary Packaging option to $16,000 - $ 5,500 saved tax (approx.)
  • Superannuation at 9.5% - $6,431 to $6,922 per annum
  • Employee self-care allowance - $300 per annum

About Toora Women Inc.

Toora Women Inc. supports women with complex issues who have experienced past or present traumas such as:

  • domestic, family and sexual violence
  • mental health issues
  • drug or alcohol dependency
  • homelessness or needing support to stay out of the homelessness system
  • time in ACT Corrections.

Our current domestic violence, homelessness and AOD health treatment programs range across a variety of settings, such as, crisis, transitional and head tenancy accommodation, day programs, counselling and outreach support. This allows Toora to provide wrap-around trauma-informed care within an integrated service system. We deliver these complex services within a human rights and gendered framework.

About the Employment Opportunity

A permanent case coordinator position has become vacant to work from our Toora Domestic Violence and Homelessness Service in Canberra ACT.

The purpose of this position is to provide case management coverage for staff who are on leave.

The Case Coordinator provides direct service delivery and ensures quality outcomes for clients who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness. This includes the provision of safe and secure crisis and transitional accommodation and outreach support, and comprehensive case management to address key areas of the client’s health and other needs. The Case Coordinator will assist clients to develop a critical analysis of their circumstances and to achieve change in their interpersonal environment and broad social conditions.

Your key responsibilities will fall within the following categories:

  • Service Delivery - providing crisis, transitional, and outreach support to women who are accessing TDVHS within a case management framework,
  • Administration
  • Teamwork, Networking, and Liaison
  • Professional Practice, Professional Development, and Performance Management
  • Workplace Health and Safety

What We Are Looking For

Our ideal applicant will have a Diploma in a relevant field (i.e. Community Services) and 2+ years of community sector experience.

Your experience will cover working with homeless women with high and complex needs, particularly with domestic violence, AOD, mental health, sexual assault, incarceration, and women from diverse backgrounds. You will also have a demonstrated capacity to work with challenging behaviors and crisis situations.

Other things we are looking for include:

  • Short term intervention skills, advocacy within a feminist framework.
  • Comprehensive assessment and engagement skills, knowledge and experience of case management and trauma informed practice.
  • Record keeping and data entry skills using SHIP database.
  • Relate sensitively with women of diverse cultural, social, economic backgrounds in providing assistance/support to clients in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Well-developed communication and teamwork skills.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office

A current driver's licence, valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration and a satisfactory National Police check are requirements for this job. Toora Domestic Violence and Homelessness Service operates a smoke free workplace in accordance with the Workplace Tobacco Management Policy.
