The BA (Ext) program is a university course open to Australian Indigenous students at the University of Melbourne that supports their transition to university through the provision of an additional study year. Students complete a sequence of subjects in the first year of their degree, which provides a strong academic foundation for their studies, grounded in Indigenous sovereignty. At the completion of the Bachelor of Arts (Extended), students move into a standard Bachelor of Arts course structure.

About the role

The BAX Program Leader is responsible for the day-to-day management of Trinity College’s delivery of BA Ext units, including the recruitment, management, and support of teaching staff. The Program Leader is also responsible for maintaining key relationships with the University of Melbourne and participating in the promotion of best practice teaching within the broader institution through participation in key committees and otherwise. Note that the Program Leader must also teach in the BA Extended program. In addition, they are required to provide advice to the wider community of Trinity College to promote Indigenous education.

To be considered for this role, you must have a recognised tertiary qualification relevant to the role along with demonstrated work experience in Indigenous education (and the ability to perform teaching duties in an online educational environment).

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership together with managing curriculum and teaching and learning issues in an educational environment. This is a part-time (0.6 FTE), 3-year contract position commencing Monday, 14 June 2021. The incumbent will be required to teach in the BA Extended program and therefore, should be available and willing to undertake additional teaching work. Days of work to be negotiated with the manager. Flexibility with working from home and campus is required.

Salary Range: D3 FTE $104,886 plus 10% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading
