We are currently seeking a values-driven Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Client Engagement Worker to work exclusively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing TSA services across all Streams in the Southern region of Tasmania ensuring a comprehensive participant led process.

THE ROLE

In this position, you will liaise with employees and officers across all streams to ensure effective and focused support that enhances connection for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and provides opportunities for increased positive outcomes, in alignment with TSA's national Local Mission Delivery strategy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing plans to increase engagement with ATSI community and the building of trust with TSA
  • One-on-one support for Aboriginal people accessing our services
  • Identifying barriers for Aboriginal people accessing our services and working with programs/services to address these
  • Developing and implementing plans to increasing participation of Aboriginal people across all TSA services, programs, and mission expressions
  • Demonstrate commitment to an environment that values continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high-quality services
  • Acquire and maintain a good working knowledge of referral and support options for participants
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with other services

​Reporting to the Area Officer, Southern Tasmania this position is located in Hobart.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a part time position, 19 hours per week fixed term for 2 years.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 4.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE

  • Minimum of Diploma level qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and service providers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work with clients with complex care needs
  • A current TAS Drivers Licence
  • Current TAS Working with Vulnerable People check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
