The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.

THE ROLE

The Case Manager Better Futures is responsible to provide flexible and holistic support to young people who are or have been in out of home care.

The role will be responsible to engage and support young people to achieve outcomes by providing a level of support offered as part of Better Futures Framework. The level of support will be dependent upon the circumstances of the young person and the capacity as established through intake. Support available through Better Futures is provided in the context of the young person's current care status or when the young person has left care. The Better Futures Case Manager will be required to work with young people in all levels of support.

Duties of this role may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide flexible, holistic and tailored support in line with the Advantage Thinking Framework.
  • Develop and support eligible young people with individual support plans as per the Better Futures guidelines.
  • Work within the required funding framework, program guidelines and to comply with statutory requirements where required.
  • Accurately complete and maintain all necessary records, reports, case notes and outcomes in accordance with the funding contracts and best practice guidelines.
  • Promote and represent the Better Futures Program at forums, networks, local community agencies.
  • Administer brokerage as approved in line with the Better Futures guidelines
  • Work consistently within the TSA's Youth Services North West Metro Integrated Model

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a full time position, 38 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, level 5.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE

  • Tertiary qualification in social sciences, welfare or related field with a degree qualification preferred. Relevant experience in a social service environment
  • Understanding of Psychologically Informed Environments and the ability to apply this framework to the specifics of a youth residential setting
  • A sound understanding of theories relating to trauma and attachment as they relate to service delivery for young people who have suffered neglect and abuse, both on an individual level as well as within the broader refuge environment
  • Understands and identifies indicators of physical, emotional, psychological or sexual abuse in infants, children and adolescents
  • Knowledge of youth homelessness, crisis intervention and the ability to collaborate with other program areas
  • Skills in engaging with the specified client group; demonstrated capacity to build effective relationships with clients based on social work, youth work and psychologically informed environments
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
