The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

Our philosophy is that every person deserves dignity, respect and quality of service and that no one should be without a safe, affordable and secure.

The Women's Outreach Support Service (WOSS) program engages with women in the cycle of crisis to support them in moving forward. WOSS provides short term support, ranging from a one off contact to a period of up to six months.

To be eligible for support, clients are experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness or living in an at-risk situation. The program supports women (without accompanying children) aged 25 years and over.

Aims of the program are to:

  • Assist people to understand their housing and other service options
  • Support people to create goals, focusing on strengths and identified needs
  • Provide case management support to assist people to implement strategies in order to achieve their goals
  • Support people to address barriers to long term housing
  • Develop collaborative relationships and protocols with other community networks and to ensure that clients have access to appropriate services

We are seeking a dedicated and values driven Case Manager to provide person centred supports ensuring access for clients to relevant services, advocacy in obtaining safe and secure housing, referral in relation to legal issues, income security, health issues, drug and alcohol problems, specialised counselling and psychiatric issues. Case Managers work collaboratively with clients and other stakeholders to ensure the individual is provided with appropriate support in their journey out of homelessness

This is a permanent full time position based in West Melbourne. You may be required to work from other TSA sites, such as North Melbourne and Kensington.

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, community services or related field
  • Ability to deliver high quality support services to vulnerable people
  • Knowledge of homelessness and social housing, crisis intervention and the ability to collaborate with other program areas
  • Skills in engaging with the specified client group; demonstrated capacity to build effective relationships with clients based on social work and psychologically informed environments
  • Assessment skills and knowledge of a range of theories including trauma informed practice and strengths-based approaches
  • Demonstrated capacity to time manage while maintaining required documentation and IT systems to DFFH and organisational standards
  • Competent to work solo when required and respond effectively to critical incidents in a safe manner
  • Ability to remain calm, focused and maintain perspective when faced with change, crisis and difficulty
