Deniliquin Corps (church) has a long history of being a community-focussed church, partnering with the wider community to help transform one life at a time with the love of Jesus. An opportunity now exists to help shape and reimagine current and future ministries.

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Community Engagement Worker, reporting to the Area Officer. You will cultivate a community hub where The Salvation Army mission is expressed and extended: caring for people, creating faith pathways, building healthy communities, working for justice. This is a fixed-term part-time 20 hours per week position until June 2024, located at Deniliquin Corps, Deniliquin.

You will successfully

  • Engage and connect with all persons for help and support with the intention of connecting them to each other
  • Identify, build and maintain meaningful connections with partnerships with appropriate community groups
  • Participate and provide leadership assistance in fundraising events (Red Shield Appeal, Christmas Cheer & Street Ministry etc)
  • Develop a strategy for how faith pathways will be accessed and explored
  • Engage community members in conversations regarding matters of faith and assist them to explore faith pathways
  • Source resources and materials
  • Provide guidance and leadership to volunteers
  • Support the Family Store Manager when required
  • Manage hall bookings appropriately

You will have

  • Ministry and leadership experience in a local church either as a volunteer or staff member
  • Minimum Diploma in either community services or Chaplaincy, or similar, is desirable
  • Current NSW Working with Children's Check
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police check
