We currently have a part time opportunity at our Armidale Family Store. This is a unique opportunity where you will not only be leading a team of volunteers to raise funds for local mission delivery, but also work towards creating a space where members of the community can experience the mission & values of The Salvation Army. Wherever there is hardship or injustice, Salvos will live, love and fight, alongside others, to transform Australia one life at a time with the love of Jesus. This opportunity is 32 hours per week across Mon - Fri.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Achieve budget within designated store, and benchmarks for sorting/production, stock rotation and staffing
  • Provide training, guidance, direction and feedback to all workers, raising serious staff issues to the Corps Officer.
  • Complete rosters and authorise timesheets.
  • Effectively manage volunteers, community work and correctional services participants in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Manage in-store marketing activities and promotions as directed, ensuring visual merchandising and display of stock is in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Complete required administrative duties within required timeframes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years relevant retail experience
  • 1 or more years retail management experience preferred
  • Self motivated, high level of initiative and strong work ethic
  • Sound communication skills (both oral and written) to be able to interact positively with a variety of people.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Team player, flexible with a positive attitude
  • Customer service focused
  • Solid level of computer literacy and basic bookkeeping
  • People management skills with an emphasis on volunteers and the community.
