We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling and withdrawal management services). The Geelong Withdrawal Unit provides a residential medicated withdrawal service for those who are seeking to recover from alcohol and other drugs issues. Clients reside in the Unit during their episode of care and are provided with all meals and facilities. Clients can remain in the programme for a further 21 days (Stage 2) post their medicated withdrawal (Stage 1) to stabilise and plan for their recovery post discharge.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Intake Worker to coordinate the acceptance of referrals received from the catchment AOD Intake and Assessment Hub and facilitating the efficient entry of clients into the service. Other key responsibilities include:

  • All clients are linked into appropriate services, GWU or other and are provided with brief interventions during this process
  • Address all phone calls and emails related to intake and manage intake waiting lists
  • Coordinate review of referrals working in conjunction with the Nursing Team Leader, AOD Team Leader and Nurse Practitioner
  • Prepare clients suitable for GWU admission, ensuring they understand the treatment process and purpose
  • Completes or organises a Mental Health Suicide Risk Assessment for clients identified as at risk
  • Undertakes education of clients, families, and carers
  • Maintains bed register for GWU
  • Maintains data collection
  • Compiles client case file

Reporting to the Nurse Team Leader this position is located in Corio.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a permanent part time position, 30.4 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, level 5.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE

  • Minimum 2 years' experience undertaking Intake role within the AOD sector
  • Experienced in delivery of AOD Mental Health client brief interventions
  • Experience and resilience in working with complex AOD/Mental Health clients presenting with challenging behaviours
  • Minimum Diploma in AOD or a related health and community services Diploma with the 4 AOD core units
  • Valid VIC Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
