The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.

THE ROLE

Responsibilities include:

  • Complete comprehensive assessments of young people's living & life skill needs to assist them in both individual and group work environments.
  • Use a case management framework and assessment tools to develop an individual Living & Life Skills support plan in collaboration with clients. Include a range of interventions, including (but not limited to) Health, nutrition & fitness, personal hygiene, wellbeing, budgeting & finances, positive parenting, respectful relationships, and young people's engagement with support networks, employments/education and with their local community.
  • Clear communication of young people's living skills support plan to the Youth Service Team and ensure that staff across all Youth Services programs are able to support each young person with their living skill goals.
  • Development of group sessions, utilising youth participation input, and subsequent facilitation of group work.
  • Ensure a trauma and psychologically informed practice environment is maintained for engagement with clients.
  • To utilise skills and knowledge pertaining to theoretical frameworks and approaches such as Attachment Theory, Social Learning and Systems Theories.
  • Oversight and supervision of students and/or volunteers/peer mentors who will play an active role in group facilitation activities.
  • Liaise at a State level with other Living & Life Skill workers to further develop the organisation's group facilitation activities/procedures with a quality improvement focus.
  • Work between all Youth Services sites NE Vic in the development of a consistent Life skills program

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a permanent full time position, 38 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE

  • Tertiary qualification in social welfare / sciences or related field, a degree qualification is preferred
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
