Located in Surry Hills, William Booth House offers both withdrawal management support (detox) and residential rehabilitation and community-based programs.

Our service provides:

  • A safe, drug-free residential environment for those seeking to withdraw from alcohol and other substances
  • Comprehensive assessment, individualised treatment/recovery plans and case management
  • Holistic treatment service that focus on physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing, individualised 1-1 sessions, facilitated groups and living skills training

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a values-driven and experienced Nurse Unit Manager to provide overall management of specialised withdrawal management (detox) nursing services, clinical assessments, mental and physical health care, referral for addiction medical assistance for clients. Other key responsibilities include line management of the nursing team to provide:

  • Nursing assessment, support and treatment provided in line with Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Clinical Practice Guidelines NSW and TSA policy and procedures
  • Support and liaise with visiting medical officers (VMOs) and manage other stakeholder relationships
  • Safe dispense and administration of medications
  • Admission and discharge, maintaining case notes and other required documentation and handover at change of shifts
  • Commitment to an environment that values continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high-quality services

Reporting to the Service Manager, this position is located in Surry Hills, NSW.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a permanent full-time position. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Aged Care Plus EBA 2017 - Nurse Unit Manager (level dependent on experience).

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL MEET THE FOLLOWING SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualification in Nursing.
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Completed 4 AOD Skill Set Units (or willing to undertake/complete during employment).
  • Minimum 2 years' management experience and demonstrated competence in nursing in the alcohol and other drugs nursing environment, including working with people with mental health conditions.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of the Guidelines and issues relating to withdrawal management.
  • Demonstrated skills in triage, medical assessment, decision making and providing appropriate nursing interventions and to provide crisis support.
  • Acknowledgement and responsiveness to diversity of experiences, perspectives, values and beliefs
  • A current NSW Drivers Licence (preferred but not essential)
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
