Bridgehaven is a 24/7 18 bed rehabilitation facility with 25 staff including 3 supervisors and one manager. It is a 'women's only' facility and is the only facility which caters exclusively for women and their children. Residents have to be over the age of 18 to be admitted and ages range from women in their late teens to mature ladies over 60.

THE ROLE

This role is oversee the provision of rehabilitation services to women experiencing alcohol and other drug dependency, through the leadership, and supervision of a multi-disciplined team and the management of a range of resources.

This is a full time 12-month fixed-term position that sits within the AOD stream in Victoria and the position reports to the AOD Victoria Regional Manager - South. The position is responsible for oversight of the 18 bed residential rehabilitation facility located in Preston that operates 24/7, 365 days per year, and the Eunike Women's AOD Supported Accommodation Program. There is a strong emphasis on building resilience and empowering women to make wise choices for their own and their children's future. Staff at Bridgehaven support women through regular group and 1:1 case management sessions.

The role requires you to

Staff Management / Leadership

  • Recruit, select and induct staff in accordance with Human Resources Policy, relevant Awards, Agreements and Legislation
  • Ensure staff's ongoing performance meets The Salvation Army expectations and any issues are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Conduct regular Supervision for all direct reports
  • Conduct regular staff meetings
  • Ensure all staff are aware of and have input into the development of the program

Program Management

  • Ensure programs remain within budget
  • Provide monthly reports on activities, income and expenditure detailing variations which require analysis and explanation and ensure any necessary adjustments are processed
  • Collect statistical information as required, interpret and provide initial advice to Senior Management of alerts or trends
  • Ensure that documentation is accurate and that client confidentiality and privacy is respected at all times in accordance with The Salvation Army policies and standards

Networking

  • Attend and contribute effectively to both internal and sector based networking meetings as agreed with Senior Manger
  • Network with relevant agencies to improve client outcomes

Accreditation

  • Monitor programs to ensure that service delivery standards are maintained
  • Contribute to all system reviews as requested
  • Encourage the development of a consumer orientated service system and implement strategies accordingly

Performance & Development

  • Attend and participate in supervision and debriefing sessions
  • Participate in The Salvation Army performance appraisal processes
  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings
  • Maintain knowledge of developments in AOD practices
  • Actively contribute to the Crossroads Leadership team

Work Health & Safety

  • Maintain WHS records in accordance with policy & procedure.
  • Ensure risks or hazards are identified within the workplace and are mitigated.
  • Ensure all personnel maintain knowledge of and participate in relevant risk prevention activities in accordance with policy and procedure and applicable legislative requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Social Work or similar or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in working with people in trauma-informed environments
  • Demonstrated understanding of the following principles and how they are applied: Trauma informed, Intersectionality, Harm Reduction, Social Justice and Strengths-based
