About the Role:

An exciting opportunity for a Program Manager to be an integral member of the Salvation Army International Development team that works in the pursuit of a better world for all, through the elimination of poverty, discrimination, and injustice.

Reporting to the Head of Salvation Army International Development (SAID), you will be responsible in providing oversight of the projects portfolio and lead a team of project professionals to successfully co-ordinate delivery of Community Development projects with TSA Implementing Partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Project Co-ordinators, working with TSA Implementing Partners, deliver quality community development projects with sustainable outcomes, achieving the benefits outlined in the project proposal within time and budget
  • Ensure projects are following best practice standards across the project lifecycle and are in line with SAID strategy, the SAID Theory of Change, relevant policies, standards, procedures, tools and Government Funding requirements
  • Manage the budget for projects, including resource allocation for community development projects, and associated travel, ensuring operations are implemented within current projections
  • Ensure project-related risks and issues are effectively managed, ensuring risks, concerns, suspicions, allegations and incidents are reported as required, and appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented
  • Contribute to and ensure that all DFAT and ACFID reporting is timely and of high standard. Contribute to the accreditation processes
  • Manage and direct the partnership agreement process, including the establishment, design process, terms negotiation, implementation, management, review and sign off

About You:

Key Capabilities:

  • Post graduate education in International Development or related discipline.
  • Five (5) years demonstrated experience in international development and experience in coordinating International Development projects
  • In-depth knowledge of the ACFID Code of Conduct, DFAT accreditation standards
  • A strong understanding of governance models in the NGO/charity sector
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of international development issues including gender, education and child protection

Requirements of the role:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Will need to commit to a minimum of 60 days travelling as part of role, whether overseas, intra-state or inter-state , and be willing to work outside of standard hours
  • Working with Children Check
  • National police record check
  • Have and maintain the right to work in Australia
  • Compulsory Code of Conduct, WHS and Bullying and Harassment training, Safeguarding @TSA training, Safeguarding Principles Training modules completed and up to date
  • Compulsory ACFID PSEAH training
  • Comply with Safety and Wellbeing of Children and Young People Framework and the Quality Management Framework of the Salvation Army
  • Understand and be committed to the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
