The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children's and parenting services, counselling, support, men's programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

Southern Family Violence Programs and Services operates across multiple sites to deliver high quality services to women and children who are experiencing, at risk of experiencing or recovering from Family Violence in the Bayside Peninsula Area.

Southern Family Violence Programs and Services works with service users from a feminist perspective, aiming to empower and increase the safety of women and children. All staff are required to work within a trauma informed practice environment, and are expected to work creatively towards ensuring that the safety and support needs of all women and children accessing the services are the first priority.

THE ROLE

As part of the Rapid Response Team, this position will deliver high quality, safe and effective crisis responses to women, children and families seeking support and safety through Southern Family Violence Programs and Services.

This position will be required to:

  • Respond to women and children presenting in crisis and deliver crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions, and coordinated referrals
  • Provide interim support to women and children experiencing family violence
  • Identify, assess and prioritise risk and needs of women and children
  • Respond to referral received from The Orange Door, Bayside Peninsula
  • Submit requests to Team Leader for allocation into case management services for women and children
  • Work collaboratively with Victoria Police and other community organisations and stakeholders

This position is based out of Windsor. The position is a full time, fixed term position until 30th of June 2022.

Required Experience

  • Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable

Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements

  • Working with Children Check
  • Mandatory National Police Check
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Sciences or related field is essential.
