The Salvation Army Doorways program provides person-centred care to community members who are in financial crisis. Our practitioners are mindful of trauma informed practices, working within a strength-based context with holistic principles to build individual capacity, resilience and well-being. Assistance provided includes food vouchers, food parcels, budgeting assistance, NILS (interest-free loans), bill payment, advocacy and referrals to financial counselling or other specialist services where appropriate. Where deeper issues are identified we work with community members within a case management context.

Service Profile

Doorways Victoria is a large Emergency Relief provider with 62 sites across Victoria and provides a range of material aids and financial assistance via both face-to-face and remote support to community members who are experiencing financial hardship.

Doorways Victoria employs 200 staff and over 200 volunteers. Most of our service sites are supported by, and co-located within TSA local Corps.

Doorways Program is funded by The Salvation Army and federal government income. Our annual operation income is circa $8.5 million, excluding in-kind donated goods.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your highly developed understanding of the emergency relief sector, empathy and understanding to serve disadvantaged people in your community?

We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic, Team Leader, for Kingston City Doorways to lead and provide overall strategic planning for this site. You would be responsible for supervising casework and emergency relief services at the site, conducted by one paid case worker and a team of volunteers.

The successful applicant will manage the resources of the site, build positive rapport with both internal and external stakeholders, create and leverage local financial and in-kind donations, and ensure the daily running of the Emergency Relief centre. You will also work with a small caseload, providing case management and service coordination support to community members with complex cases.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is an ongoing part-time position, at 22.5 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, level 5.

ABOUT YOU

  • Ability to coach, supervise and provide leadership to staff and volunteers
  • Ability to ensure service delivery outcomes meet the required target
  • Sound knowledge of Emergency Relief services, and strong case management skills from a relevant field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Resilience, flexibility and adaptability
  • Creative outcome focused attitude, with initiative to solve service
  • Ability to use technology and software applications, namely Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, SAMIS, Workday and Kronos.
  • A degree level qualification in Welfare, Psychology, Social Work, Community/Human Services discipline is highly desirable; a Diploma may be considered.
  • Willingness to undergo a national police check
  • Have a valid Working with Children Check
