The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Young Parents Outreach Worker to provide crisis case management support to women aged 15-24 years old who are pregnant and/or parenting and experiencing or at risk of homelessness, whilst residing in transitional accommodation.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Supports women who are often reluctant to access support and have complex needs including AOD, mental health, family violence and financial hardship;
  • Engages with these women to develop case plans through a comprehensive case management framework;
  • Work with families to enhance family inclusive practice, address child safety and to address issues contributing to their homelessness;
  • Works as part of a team along with case managers and other support services to achieve the best outcomes for families and children
  • Works in the best interest of children in line with the Keeping Children Safe policy

Reporting to the Team Leader this position is located at Settlement Road, Geelong.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a permanent part time position, 22.8 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 5.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Tertiary qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field with significant experience is preferred
  • Experience and resilience in working with complex clients presenting with challenging behaviours
  • Ability to encourage and cooperate with others to achieve common goals
  • Acknowledgement and responsiveness to diversity of experiences, perspectives, values and beliefs
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
