About the employer…

The Women’s Activities and Self Help (WASH) House is a community-based information and resource centre for women that envisages a community in which women exercise equal rights, choose their own destiny and have a safe environment for themselves and their children. They work towards this by providing information and referral, advocacy, capacity building and support services.

The organisation has been established in the area for over 35 years as a support and resource centre for women. Over this time, the WASH House has grown and evolved to run a range of programs including Staying Home Leaving Violence, Counselling, Case Work, Group Work and Information Services.

About the opportunity…

You will provide support to the Executive Officer and the entire team to ensure effective operation of the WASH House.
Just some of the duties this role will be responsible for include:

  • Provide information and referral services including details of centre programs and activities and other services within the local area
  • Maintain data collection systems and produce reports (ordering goods and equipment, contact lists, filing and archiving records, databases and email contact lists etc.)
  • Facilitate invoicing and reconciliation in coordination with the Accounts Officer
  • Administrative oversight of WASH House social media
  • Arrange booking for groups, appointments for service users and source rooms and equipment
  • Maintain centre resources and promotional material
  • Maintain the system for ordering goods and equipment

The position is Full Time at 35hrs per week. Salary is classified at level 3.1 in the NSW SCHADS Award and the position is located in Mt Druitt.

About you…

You will be a passionate woman with sound experience in administration in the community sector and an interest in women’s services specifically. Your experience will pride yourself on a high level of accuracy, ability to prioritise workload and meet deadline as well as develop and maintain efficient organisational systems.

Selection Criteria…

  • Demonstrated ability to advocate for clients, through clear and respectful messages and information to clients and staff
  • Ability to produce accurate, and informative reports and communication that meet the needs of Management
  • Proven time management skills in assisting others to meet deadlines and work effectively in solving issues
  • Ability to recognise diversity and generates ideas for innovation through contributing to operational activities
  • Proven ability to offer feedback and provide balanced perspectives to contribute to building team cohesion
  • Has the ability to represent the organisation in a professional manner as required and in community activities
  • An understanding of the importance of research when procuring items/services to attain value for money and sustainable purchases
  • Proven knowledge of the current issues for women in Blacktown LGA
  • Ability to utilise policy and procedures to guide work practices to achieve targets
  • Ability to utilise feedback from complaints to improve programs and performance
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technology and computer skills, including Office 365 and social media
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and WHS requirements, and how to identify risks in the workplace
  • Ability to contribute to workplans and achieve outcomes
