We're a small SA Union representing firefighters and related staff in both the state and federal jurisdictions and we are looking for the right person to join the great team in our small busy office in a permanent full time role.

Firefighting, by its very nature is a precarious occupation so our Union has a strong emphasis on work health and safety and on fighting for members who suffer workplace injuries. Firefighters are looking for a strong professional primarily to lead workers rehabilitation and compensation advocacy, currently dealing with a wide range of claims from slips and strains to industrial cancer and PTSD, but also to contribute to our ongoing WHS campaigning in areas such as exposure to diesel particulates and PFAS.

The Role:

Our Union is currently seeking a passionate advocate who is equipped to:

• Advise and represent members and the Union in relation to WHS and Workers Compensation
• Draft, lodge and conduct disputes in the SAET and FWC
• Conduct research and prepare reports on related matters
• Prepare documentation and maintain files
• Assist with strategic campaigns in related areas

Qualifications and Skills sought include:

• Demonstrated commitment to the principles of trade unionism and social justice
• Legal qualifications are highly desirable
• Sound knowledge of /experience in workers compensation, IR, WHS
• High level interpersonal and excellent communication skills
