The Department of General Practice originated as a unit within the Department of Community Medicine in 1977. It was established as a separate department within the School of Medicine in 2001 and established the Primary Care Research Unit (PCRU) as a centre of excellence in primary care research, research training and knowledge exchange in 2006. The Department has 68 (full time equivalent) staff supported by an operating budget of $7 million and research income of approximately $11 million annually.

About the role

Do you enjoy providing administrative support? We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and energetic administration officer to join our small, close-knit team. You will help us support researchers to develop new cancer in primary care research. This role includes administration, meeting support, and event coordination. It is an opportunity for the right candidate to share their skills and experience to ensure the Primary Care Collaborative Cancer Clinical Trials Group (PC4) is a well-oiled machine that supports our 900+ members all over Australia.

About You

You are a process-driven person who thrives working in a small team to make sure everyone dots the i’s and crosses the t’s. You believe in working in a team culture founded on collaboration, teamwork, respect, and integrity.

We are looking for a someone who has:

  • Completion of a degree or related field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Experience in providing executive administration to senior leadership.
  • Shown initiative and creativity in their problem solving to achieve work goals and meet agreed deadlines.
  • A desire to use their skills in a health research environment.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and flexibility in responding to changing work priorities, with the capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
