The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences has an enviable research record and is the University of Melbourne’s largest faculty in terms of management of financial resources, employment of academic and professional staff, teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate (including research higher degree) students and the conduct of basic and applied research.

About the Role

The Project Manager will be joining Orygen@Home evaluation team that sits within the Health Services and Outcomes Research team led by Prof Sue Cotton. Funding for the evaluation has been obtained from HCF Research Foundation and Melbourne Health. The overall purpose of this research program is to determine the safety, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of Orygen@Home as an alternative model for inpatient psychiatric care for young people with severe mental illness. 

Responsibilities include:

• Managing a junior research assistant
• Assisting with preparation of ethics applications and research protocols
• Following study protocols and conducting ethical research at a high level of integrity and in line with policies
• Stakeholder engagement, with a particular emphasis on supporting meaningful and sustained engagement and consultation with young people

About You

You will posses excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective research collaboration and engagement. You will bring your well-developed organisation and time management skills and be flexible and responsive to changing priorities and show demonstrated ability to contribute to independent and team-based research.

You will also have:

• A postgraduate degree (Honours, Masters or doctoral degree) in health, behavioural or social sciences or a related discipline or substantial progress towards a PhD.
• Demonstrated experience in Project Management.
• High level of proficiency in the use of standard application software such as the Microsoft Office suite.
• Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively and building and maintaining effective internal and external relationships.
