About the Centre for Digital Transformation of Health

The Centre for Digital Transformation of Health is a cross-disciplinary centre that sits in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, and the School of Computing and Information Systems. With a vision of connected healthcare, the Centre aims to address a critical gap in the translation of digital health research and significantly grow the field of digital health research at the University of Melbourne.

About the Role

The Digital Health Design Team Lead will be a member of the Centre for Digital Transformation of Health’s team that is developing the Digital Health Validitron, a novel and innovative pipeline for co-design, development, testing and validation of digital health solutions.

The appointee will work as part of an inter-disciplinary, translational research team with expertise in diverse disciplines including co-design, application development, interoperability, clinical informatics, health economics and policy, and implementation science. They will work synergistically with the team leader for technical workstream of the Digital Health Validitron, which includes development of a simulated digital ecosystem. They will contribute to growing and be responsible for leading a team with expertise in design and evaluation of all the dimensions required for successful uptake and impact of digital health innovations.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Drive the work of the Validitron design team to reach goals through management of multiple collaborative projects.
  • Depending on level appointed, oversee and provide thought leadership for, or co-ordinate, research activities across the digital health design spectrum.
  • Using best practice frameworks, design and co-ordinate evaluative studies/ action research that assesses the sociotechnical dimensions of digital health interventions being developed and validated through the Digital Health Validitron.
  • Assist and support operational team members responsible for governance, budget oversight and financial reporting for the Validitron program of work.

About You

You will be a self-starter with exemplary organisational skills to drive the work of an academic, inter-disciplinary team, and should have a commitment to the highest standards of research ethics and rigour.

Ideally, you will further have:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Significant experience in clinical service design and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex research projects including development of effective plans, timelines and milestones.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective research collaboration and engagement.
