About the Program

The Brighter Futures Family Preservation Program is a voluntary, targeted service providing individually tailored, evidence-informed and culturally responsive services supporting families, children and young people to thrive and feel safe at home.

We are currently recruiting for 2 positions for the Brighter Futures team in Campbelltown (1 x full time permanent & 1 full time, 12 month contract role)

About the Opportunity

As a Case Worker your role will be to engage families in meaningful case management through the provision of target support for identified worries. This role requires a passionate and sensitive professional to work collaboratively within our team to build parenting and family capacity. You need to have a sound understanding of child protection, assessment skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships. You will be working with families to ensure their homes are safe, supportive and nurturing. 

Key Responsibilities

  • You’ll provide case management and case work services to families with complex needs in accordance with the Service Provision Guidelines and Program Model
  • Assessment of family strengths and needs using the NCFAS G+R or other approved assessment tools.
  • Assisting families to formulate goals that align with identified needs, addressing safety and well-being concerns, and providing appropriate assistance to achieve these goals through home visiting, advocacy, life skills, parenting, routines or budgeting.
  • Deliver evidence based parenting programs.
  • Provide culturally responsive and strengths based support to families in all aspects of service provision.

What you need to succeed

  • Relevant tertiary level qualifications including social sciences, welfare or other areas of study relevant to the role.
  • 3 years’ experience working with children and families using a strengths-based approach.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principals of early intervention.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues and the ability to identify and address these issues with families when required
  • Experience of working with diversity including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse families.
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to identify needs, strengths and potential risks.
  • Must hold a current WWCC and Drivers licence
