About the opportunity

Uniting is seeking a Care Service Employee for traineeship at Uniting Koombahla in Elermore Vale on a closed period of 2 years part time basis, to work collaboratively as a care team member to assist in the provision of care services that enhances the residents’ well-being and is inclusive of their physical, psychological, social and spiritual qualities, to facilitate self-determination, capacity and resilience, as well as improve social engagement and quality of life for the resident. 

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Under supervision, provide personal care to assist residents to meet their daily living needs through the provision of optimal comfort, hygiene, social, physical, nutrition and hydration as per nursing care plan and at all times with consideration of individual preferences.
  • Implement activities which maintain and promote the physical, mental, social creative and psychological aspects of the residents.
  • Observe the condition of residents and report any changes
  • Complete resident clinical assessments and documentation
  • Undertake and participate in relevant training/activities provided in relation to Work Health & Safety
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Gain a Certificate 3 in Individual Support (Aged Care)
  • Must be willing to obtain influenza vaccination (essential)

  • Ability to work on a rotating day and night roster
  • Ability to communicate well with people of all ages
  • Have strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work both autonomously and well in a team
  • Ability to use initiative and problem solve
  • Seek advice when necessary
  • Physically fit and enjoy being active
