About the opportunity:

At Uniting, we believe in the power of compassion and the difference one person can make in the lives of those who need it most. We’re searching for a dedicated and passionate caseworker to join our Brighter Futures program in Coffs Harbour, where your skills and heart will help change the trajectory of vulnerable families.

As a Caseworker in our Brighter Futures program, you will be the trusted guide for families, children, and young people on the brink of escalation within the Child Protection system. Your role is not just a job—it’s a mission to provide the support, structure, and safety that these families desperately need. You’ll be the one who steps in, assesses their strengths, helps them set goals, and walks alongside them as they work to create a better future.

  • Empower Families: Provide personalised casework and case management, ensuring families with complex needs receive the help they need to thrive.
  • Ensure Safety: Act swiftly to protect children and young people, always aligning with Uniting’s policies and the Mandatory Reporting Guidelines.
  • Build Strength: Use your expertise to assess family strengths and needs, helping them formulate and achieve goals that prioritise the safety and well-being of children.
  • Champion Growth: Support parents and carers in developing vital skills through role-modelling, teaching strategies, and home visits.
  • Advocate for Change: Be the voice for families, connecting them with ongoing support and resources that will help them succeed long after they leave our program.

Your Qualifications & Experience

You’re not just looking for a job—you’re looking for a purpose. You have a strong commitment to keeping children safe and believe in the power of families to overcome challenges. You’re ready to bring your experience, your passion, and your dedication to a role where you can truly make a difference.

  • Qualifications and Experience: You hold a relevant bachelor's degree in social sciences or equivalent and have at least 2 years of experience working with children and families. You’re organised, compassionate, and ready to engage families in crisis with innovative solutions.
  • Empathetic: You have a natural ability to engage with families from diverse backgrounds, working in partnership with them to address child safety concerns.
  • Knowledgeable: You understand the complexities of child protection and the challenges faced by vulnerable families.
  • Flexible: You’re willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the families you support.
  • Skilled: You’re proficient with computers, have a current NSW Driver’s license, and are ready to transport families when needed. You will also hold a current NSW WWCC.
