About the role:

This is a full time permanent role (35 hours per week) based in Campbelltown.  

You will be responsible for the provision of early intervention and prevention case management to families with children and young people (0-17 years old) in their care who at risk of entering or escalating into the child protection system.

This role will service the Campbelltown, Camden, Wollondilly and Wingercarribee LGA’s.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide early intervention casework and case management services to Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non Aboriginal families that have complex needs in the Early Intervention team.
  • Provide, plan and support and structure safety for the child and/or young person and take immediate action is a child and/or young person is at risk
  • Assess families needs using the Uniting Early Intervention Common Assessment Tool (CAT) including the use of evidence based tools as appropriate
  • Assist families to formulate and achieve goals that are child focussed and address the safety and well being of the child and/or young person
  • Support parents/carers to develop their skills; utilising role modelling, teaching strategies where needed, home visits and facilitating parent groups
  • Maintain appropriate records (electronic) including case notes, assessments, case plans, case sessions and pre and post assessments

About You

  • Previous experience working with families, children and young people
  • Demonstrated understanding of social issues that may impact children, young people and families preferably in the area of child protection, domestic and family violence, mental health, alcohol and drug misuse
  • Ability to facilitate and teach parenting skills to people accessing our early intervention program. Training can be provided for evidence based parenting programs such as Turning into Kids, Turning into Teens and circle of security
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with Aboriginal/Torres Strait Island communities or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities
  • Flexibility to work before or after hours as needed to support families
  • Working with children’s check and current NSW drivers licence

  • Experience working with fathers and families experiencing domestic violence
  • Experience supporting Aboriginal families in providing culturally sensitive interventions
  • Experience and skills facilitating group work
