About the Role

As a Clinical Documentation and Policy Specialist, you will play a pivotal role within the Customer Risk, and Governance Directorate at Uniting. Reporting to the Clinical Governance Lead, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical policies and procedures. Your expertise will ensure compliance with regulatory standards and align with best practice guidelines to support the delivery of high-quality care within Uniting’s aged care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Development and Management
    • Develop, review, and update clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Collaborate with clinical staff to identify policy needs and areas for improvement.
    • Ensure policies are effectively communicated and accessible to relevant staff and stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Monitor changes in legislation and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
    • Conduct risk assessments and support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Quality Improvement
    • Provide insights and recommendations based on policy outcomes and clinical performance data.
    • Assist in developing strategies to enhance consumer safety and care quality.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Engage with clinical teams and management to ensure policies are practical and effective.
    • Collaborate with the Clinical Governance Lead and other directorates to support policy implementation.
  • Training and Support
    • Provide training to clinical staff on new and updated policies.
  • Reporting and Documentation
    • Maintain comprehensive records of policy development and compliance activities.
    • Prepare reports on policy-related issues and outcomes for senior management.
  • Audit and Review
    • Participate in audits and reviews of clinical documentation and clinical practices to ensure compliance with policies and identify areas for improvement.
  •  Risk Management
    • Assist in identifying and managing clinical risks and support the development of
      strategies to mitigate these risks

About You

  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
    • Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with current AHPRA registration (no limitations).
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years in a clinical or healthcare policy role, preferably within aged care or a similar setting.
    • In-depth knowledge of clinical governance, aged care quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with policy management software is an advantage.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex clinical data into actionable insights.
    • Ability to navigate a complex organisation and manage relationships through influence.
    • A passion for social change and commitment to supporting the most disadvantaged communities.
  • Desirable:
    • Master’s degree or postgraduate qualifications in clinical governance or health policy.
    • Professional membership in clinical governance or health policy organisations.
