This is a part time, closed contract until 30 June 2023. Four days a week, 56 hours per fortnight.

About the Role:

The Community Connector role will join the team working on the BecomingU youth project based in Nambucca Heads.  This project is a direct response to what we have learnt from our community. It will involve bringing co-designed mentoring, digital storytelling, leadership opportunities and work experience initiatives to life.

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Co-leading the project design process with young people and those important to them
  • Working collaboratively to materialise and deliver projects effectively within a short time frame
  • Use your community connections, relationships and resources to develop a team of project partners to ensure Nambucca’s young people have every opportunity to reach their full potential and thrive
  • Work closely with the Project Coordinator to identify and map community assets and develop community engagement plan
  • Evaluate projects constructively

 The Person

  • Completed or completing a relevant tertiary qualification, and/or equivalent demonstrated experience in a related field and/or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in community engagement
  • Is excited about creating innovative, empowering and bold projects with young people, rather than for them.
  • Highly passionate about young people reaching their full potential
  • Ability to switch between projects, sometimes several times within one day
  • A creative thinker, who thinks outside of the box and loves a challenge.
  • Understanding of place-based work, in particular the Harwood Institute practices.
  • Can work just as effectively within a team, as well as individually
